Cedric Alexander vs. Anthony Henry from Flatline Pro Wrestling 2015

From Dylan Hales:

On August 7th and 8th the first ever (and hopefully first annual) Scenic City Invitational tournament will be held at the Empire Arena in Rossville, Georgia.

In an effort to get people excited for this tournament and Southern independent wrestling in general, in the weeks leading up to the event, this blog will be looking at matches from each individual participant in the tourney.  We hope you follow along, enjoy the matches, and find some new favorites along the way.

Post by TJ Hawke:

This match was for Henry’s FPW Heavyweight Championship.

Dylan sold this match as something that would be hyped up if it had taken place inside a PWG ring. I think that is a reasonable assessment, and it is perhaps why I did not particularly care for it. (To be fair, I’m not sure if Dylan meant that as a compliment.)

It felt like it went 20+ minutes for no particular reason, Henry’s work on top did not grab me in any meaningful way, and they lost lots of momentum down the stretch to the point where I couldn’t believe it ended when it did. With all that being said, there was nothing particularly wrong with the first 80% of the match, and it’s possible a properly produced video would have allowed me to catch some subtle stuff going on to enhance the experience. Taken as it is though, I cannot recommend watching this match. [Finish: Curb stomp from Henry] (**1/2)
