Kongo Kong vs. Brian Defiance from Strong Style Wrestling 2015
From Dylan Hales:
On August 7th and 8th the first ever (and hopefully first annual) Scenic City Invitational tournament will be held at the Empire Arena in Rossville, Georgia.
In an effort to get people excited for this tournament and Southern independent wrestling in general, in the weeks leading up to the event, this blog will be looking at matches from each individual participant in the tourney. We hope you follow along, enjoy the matches, and find some new favorites along the way.

Full disclosure, I wrote the majority of the match up before this Scenic City Invitational Project was a thing. That being said I would have definitely tried to wrangle a Kongo Kong match up regardless. Easily one of the most enjoyable big men not just on the indies but the whole gosh darn planet.
My goodness, Kongo Kong is the best here. Through sheer force of will, Kong turns this into a good match. He literally gives himself a bodyslam in this match. It is essentially a large fella brawl around this little civic-center-looking-venue. Once it got back to the ring, they took advantage of the fact that they are some real fatties. A Godzilla flick type of bout with POWER MOVES! There were definitely elements of this match that I was not jiving with. Defiance was bringing rather crap offense to the table, but Kong at least attempts to make the pasty lad look somewhat dangerous. What Definiance does do well is getting thrown into the chairs. That sounds like faint praise, but I honestly think that is almost an artform in itself. Kong does a cannonball onto Defiance who is sitting in a chair and the chair bends. It looks absolutely insane and completely makes up for the mistiming bit where Defiance doesn’t smash his ugly mug into the chair. Plus, the ending is pure bliss. Who would have thought that you could have a quality hoss match on the indies where they didn’t try and wrestler like they were 5’6″? (GOOD)
