Matt Sydal vs. Delirious from ROH’s Epic Encounter 2006

Recap from TJ Hawke:

These two have wrestled, like, two billion times. Not much of note happened early on. I believe I read reviews of this show that said that the crowd sucked. They definitely lived down to their reputation in the early stages of the match. Sydal got control at one point and hit the Here It Is Driver for the first real nearfall. Sydal followed that up with a Fosbury Flop. Back in the ring, Delirious came back with a neckbreaker. Delirious then locked in the Cobra Stretch. Sydal made the ropes. Sydal went for a standing moonsault, but Delirious blocked it. Sydal went for it again and connected on it. Delirious came back with the twisting rana piledriver. Delirious got the Cobra Stretch again. They traded pinning combinations. Delirious then got a nearfall with a Bizarro Driver. Delirious went to the top rope, but Sydal caught him with a moonsault belly-to-belly suplex: 1…2…3!

This match was a little flat for most of it, but they definitely did some cool stuff towards the end. The finish was exactly the same as their ROH debut match against each other in the same building.

Match Rating: ***
