AJ Styles vs. Chase Owens from NWA Smokey Mountain 2015

These two worked what has slowly become my favorite format for a lengthy match. Owens dominated the majority of the whole thing, and AJ would sporadically tease a comeback. This allows for there to be some intrigue as to when AJ was going to finally come back. Given that the current IWGP Heavweight Champion was not going to lose this one, that was a smart style to work to make the match a little bit more intriguing. Owens did a really solid job on top, and AJ made sure to sell enough for Owens to give him some credibility. I enjoyed this. AJ managed to endure the beatdown until he connected on the Bloody Sunday and Styles Clash back-to-back to win the match. (***1/2)
