Zema Ion vs. Christian York from TNA’s Impact TV 2012

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Borash explained on commentary that York last appeared in TNA on the very first night of the company. York has a contract body now. York was in control early. York hit a half-nelson suplex and a cannonball splash.  York went to the top rope, but Ion fell to the floor.  Ion managed to cut him off with a swinging DDT.  Ion got the heat after that.  Iron went for a middle rope moonsault, but York got his knees up. York then hit a big lariat and The Mood Swing: 1…2…NO!  York called for a dive, but Ion avoided it. York then hit a handspring headscissors from the apron. Back in the ring, Ion managed to hit York in the balls behind the ref’s back. Ion then locked in the Submission Impossible and York taps out!

This match was OK. I read a lot about how good York has looked since he came to TNA last year. I thought he seemed OK, but he didn’t seem that sharp to me. Is Christian York going to be someone that has interesting matches that go longer than eight minutes? I’m not sure. Zema did a good job to make York look strong before the finish.

Match Rating: **1/4
