KENTA, Kevin Steen, & El Generico vs. Chris Hero & The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) from ROH’s HDNet TV 2011

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Hero and the Wolves are being managed by Shane Hagadorn and Sara Del Rey. The match starts off with Steen and Davey brawling. That makes me smile.  The ROH HDNet crowd is not as dead as they usually were for this match. I credit that to KENTA being a special attraction. Neither team could get a decisive advantage in the early stages of the match. A blind tag to Hero at on point allowed Hero to cut off Steen with a elbow to the back of the head. Steen was worked over for a while. Steen eventually got to the floor, and he then ran around to his corner. KENTA made a hot tag. The heels tried to use the numbers game to get back the advantage, but Generico saved KENTA. Hero and KENTA went back and forth. Hero got a nearfall with a Liger Bomb. Generico ate an elbow from Hero. Steen gave Hero a lung blower. Davey took out Generico with his tope con hello into the crowd. KENTA and Davey went back and forth in the ring. They knocked each other out with high-angle kicks. Generico gave Davey a Michinoku Driver. Davey ate a swanton from Steel and a double stomp from KENTA, but Eddie and Hero made the save. Eddie gave Generico a missile dropkick to his bad knee. Davey then locked in the Cloverleaf on the injured knee. Generico taps out.

This was a tremendous trios match. I would say this has to be considered one of the more enjoyable Ring of Honor matches from the HDNet television show. While that may not seem like the biggest compliment, the HDNet show (for all of its many, many faults) produced some very good matches in its two years of existence.

Match Rating: ***3/4
