Jushin Liger vs. Ebessan from NJPW 2003

This started out as a non-comedic affair, which surprised me. That didn’t last forever.  Eventually, Liger cut off Ebessan, and he got the heat for a bit.  Ebessan made a comeback, and he even got a nearfall with a Drunk Slam.  Ebessan then hit a FU. He went for a moonsault, but Liger avoided it.  Liger then got a nearfall with a super hurricanrana.  Liger went for a frog splash, but Ebessan got his knees up. Ebessan then got a nearfall with La Magistral Cradle! SHINING WIZARD FROM EBESSAN! Ebessan then hit a corkscrew moonsault: 1…2…NO! Where the fuck did that come from?  Liger came back with a palm strike and a powerbomb. He went for a Liger Bomb, but Ebessan reversed it into a hurricanrana: 1…2…NO! Koppou Kick from Liger! LIGER BOMB: 1…2…NO! What??? Liger then hit a brainbuster: 1…2…3!

 

I was expecting a little more comedy here, but almost everything they did was a lot of fun. The crowd lost interest towards the end, as Liger obviously had the match won.
