Hechicero vs. Stuka, Jr. from CMLL 2015

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Stuka is showing proper respect to the King of Sports, NJPW, by wearing a shirt with their #brand on it. Glad to know that one of these luchadores knows what’s up. The match was not doing much for me early. Stuka got me to care as soon as he busted out a beautiful Asai Moonsault. He followed it up with another springboard dive. Back in the ring, Hechicero blocked a moonsault and then did some wonderful tumbling that will surely get the notice of gymnastic fans everywhere. Stuka came back with a super arm drag and then a missile splash: 1…2…3

Hechicero gets a ton of hype, but I’ve yet to see a performance from him that makes me think he’s anything special. Maybe I’m watching the wrong matches.

Match Rating: **

Thoughts from Sam DiMascio:

This match convinced me more than anything else that I would much rather see Stuka Jr. do a few highspots in a trios match than watch him try and hold up his end of a singles match. Admittedly, I am a Hechicero fan but even still it felt like he was trying to carry around a sack of potatoes that wanted to go half speed at most. Not saying this was any spectacular effort on Hechicero’s part but hard to imagine he could have elevated this match much higher above the level it achieved. A forgettable lightning match for sure.
