Matt Tremont vs. Mike Bailey from C4’s A Better Tomorrow 2014

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Mike Bailey is one of the most underexposed wrestlers on the independent scene. He’s a tremendous talent.

Tremond got the early advantage with some strikes. Bailey snapped off a hurricanrana, but Tremont cut him off right away by sending Bailey into the turnbuckle. Bailey managed to hit a Meteora and a Red Star Press though within a minute of being cut off. They traded strikes. Tremont hit a seated tombstone for a nearfall. Tremont was in control after that. They traded strikes. They both went down after a Tremont headbutt. Bailey managed to send Tremont to the floor and then hit a double jump, corkscrew dive to the floor. They battled on the floor. Tremont hit Bailey with a DVD on the apron. Damn. Apron DVDs always look nasty. Bailey came back and went for a SSP, but Tremont got his knees up and then hit a lariat to the back of the head. Bailey reversed a powerbomb into a triangle choke. Tremont had to tap out.

This was a nicely paced match that made sure to deliver a lot of fun action. I’m somewhat numb to this style of wrestling on the independents, but when it’s a compact match (such as this), I do not mind it as much. Mike Bailey needs to be in Chikara.

Match Rating: ***
