Ric Converse vs. Cedric Alexander from CWF Mid-Atlantic 2012
Post by Terrance Smith:
The local indie promotion where this match takes place, CWF Mid-Atlantic, is known as where people like Andrew Everett, Trevor Lee, and Cedric Alexander, among others, found a place to hone their skills. In this match, we see a Cedric Alexander who has only been in ROH for about a year at this point facing a relatively unknown wrestler in Ric Converse. I expect to see a less polished Alexander attempting to really hone his skills in this match while Ric Converse is just a body for Cedric to wrestle. However, I would not be surprised if this match contained a good amount of back and forth action for the time it gets. In other words, I’m not 100% sure what this match will be like, but I am sure that with a guy as talented as Cedric Alexander, this match will assuredly be fun.
This match was not what I expected at all, and it wasn’t all that good either. This match had the simple story of the veteran heel, Converse, working over the young, energetic face, Alexander. Where this story is usually conducive to a fun match, this match was a complete void of entertaining action. Converse is just about the blandest wrestler I have ever seen, and he carries this match on his shoulders since he has the majority of the offense. I am struggling to remember what he did and I just watched the match! That is a testament to how bland, boring, and completely awful Converse is. Alexander did a solid with his comebacks, but they were too few and far between to really save this match. The action does pick up by the finish, but a finish that was very cliché and average holds this match back even more. Somehow, Converse was able to make a match with Cedric Alexander, an incredibly fun wrestler, bland, boring and completely uninspired. While this match was technically well executed and had no botches to speak of, one of the most boring wrestlers I have ever seen holds this match back.
