Kevin Steen vs. Sami Callihan from 2CW 2012
Sami was making his entrance along the foul line (Did I mention this show happened on a baseball field?) when Steen attacked Sami. They started brawling on the field. They made their way to the ringside area, where they continued to brawl. Steen sent Sami into a ringpost, crotch first. Sami eventually was able to drop Steen on the apron. They finally got into the ring and the bell rang. So, I guess the match officially starts now.
Sami rained down some forearms. Steen managed to cut Sami off shortly after that though. Steen proceeded to work over Sami. Steen was in control for a while. Sami was finally able to come back with an enzuigiri. Sami then went for the trio of three face washes. Steen, of course, didn’t get hit with the third attempt, but he still ate a Brogue Kick to the arm from Sami. Sami then hit an Ace Crusher and a Silverking Lariat. Sami called for a tope, but Steen came back with a pop-up powerbomb. Steen went for a superplex. Sami tried to reverse it into a powerbomb, but Steen avoided that. Sami then superkicked Steen’s knee. Steen started jawing with the crowd. Sami came back with a saito suplex and a Sliding D. Sami went for a Superfly Splash, but Steen got his knees up. Steen then hit a Stunner and a chokeslam: 1…2…NO! Steen then hit a low blow and a package piledriver: 1…2…3!
These two just have nothing but fun matches together. I can’t imagine that I will ever get sick of them being in the same match. While I probably enjoyed their PWG match slightly more, this was still really good and managed to keep Steen’s heel champion run going strong. The finish wasn’t super inspired, but I think it fits with the character Steen is portraying in 2CW. Good stuff.
