Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Karl Anderson from NJPW’s New Japan Cup 2012

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Nakamura avoided a very early Ace Crusher attempt. Anderson started to go after the left knee of Nakamura. Nakamura came back after he avoided a diving knee drop from Anderson. Nakamura was in control until they ended up on the apron; there, Anderson hit his pump kick variation. Back in the ring, Anderson hit another one of his kicks and then a neckbreaker. Liger Bomb from Anderson: 1…2…NO! Nakamura came back and started delivering a number of knee strikes. Anderson came back with a spinebuster. Namakura came back with a knee to a standing Anderson and then a backstabber. He called for the Boma Ye, but Anderson avoided it and hit a leg lariat. Diving neckbreaker from Anderson: 1…2…NO!!!! Anderson went for another, but Nakamura blocked it with a dropkick. They got to their feet and traded strikes. Nakamura charged for the Boma Ye but Anderson caught him with an Ace Crusher: 1…2…3!!!

This was NJPW formula, but I find the NJPW formula to be very enjoyable. Anderson and Nakamura are two very over performers, and the crowd ate up almost everything they did. Thumbs up.

Match Rating: ***1/2
