Prince Devitt vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi from NJPW 2010

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Tanahashi got control of the match early on. He is a heavyweight, and Devitt is a junior heavyweight after all. Hashtag New Japan. Devitt eventually came back with a dropkick, which sent Tanahashi to the floor. Devitt then hit his beautiful tope con hello. Back in the ring, Tanahashi avoided a Ghetto stomp and then hit the Sling Blade. Devitt got a couple of pinning combinations, but Tanahashi survived them. Devitt hit an enuigiri and a ghetto stomp: 1…2…no. Devitt then hit a Trouble in Paradise, but Tanahashi avoided the Bloody Sunday. Tanahashi got a nearfall with a 2k1 Bomb. Pele kick from Devitt. Sling blade from Tanahashi. Tanahashi then hit the frog splash: 1…2…3

Tanahashi’s frog splash kind of sucks. No one seems to mention that. This was worked fine, but it was way too short to amount to much. I wish NJPW treated Devitt like a main eventer.

Match Rating: **3/4
