Edge vs. Dolph Ziggler from WWE’s Smackdown TV 2010

Recap from TJ Hawke:

This was a BRAGGING RIGHTS qualifier match. The winner of this match will join the Smackdown team at Bragging Rights. What a time to be alive this must have been. Ziggler was the Intercontinental Champion, but that belt was not on the line.

There was some drama going on between Dolph, Vickie, and Kaitlyn recently. Or something. Not much of note (or interest) happened for the first few minutes. Dolph finally cut Edge off after a hanging neckbreaker. Edge fought back with a big boot that sent Dolph to the floor. Dolph avoided the spear and Zig Zagged Edge into the steel steps. Dolph worked Edge over after that. Edge then made a comeback that actually featured some of his babyface comeback moves from before 2005. He got a nearfall with an Edge-O-Matic. He got another with the Edgecution. Edge avoided a Zig Zag, but Dolph avoided a spear. Dolph foolishly went for a diving attack, and Edge hit him with a spear: 1…2…3

This was a solid television match. Dolph had a solid strategy of going after Edge’s neck. That both makes sense with Edge’s injury history and Dolph’s finisher. Edge was clearly worn down from all the injuries at this point. I’m glad he got out when he did.

Match Rating: **3/4
