Chris Dickinson vs. Eric Ryan from Beyond Wrestling 2009

Post by Chris Wilson:

This match took place in 2009 back in the Ohio days of Beyond Wrestling. This match is a bit different than what you’re used to seeing from Beyon. It only uses one camera angle and is in black and white. This match took place during an eight man one night tournament. Chris Dickinson vs Eric Ryan is a first round contest.

Chris Dickinson takes control by powering out of a triangle choke and hitting Eric Ryan with a powerbomb. Both men exchange pin attempts, and they use just about every pin attempt ever created. The only pin that I really saw missing was the O’Connor roll. This was a very cool sequence that you usually do not see a lot of in wrestling. Dickinson ends this exchange with a suplex for a 2 count. Ryan hits a jumping spinning heel kick, but Dickinson is able to take him down. Dickinson attempts a sliding clothesline, but Ryan ducks out of the way and both men kip up. Dickinson hits a falcon arrow for a 2 count and quickly transitions into a Haas of Pain to get the submission victory.

A really good match here that was only 9 minutes long. Spoiler alert coming up if you want to see the rest of this tournament: Dickinson started 0-3 wrestling for Beyond, but Dickinson is able to win 3 matches in one night to win this tournament. Several times he showed a viscous side and this viscous side helped him win after struggling as a nice guy in the company. I like how he needed to change his attitude to change how his matches ended.

Thanks,
Chris Wilson
