Claudio Castagnoli vs. Paul Tracey from CWN 2009

Post by TJ Hawke:

Claudio’s indie matches from this time period outside of ROH and Chikara have this “house show vibe” that put a low ceiling on the quality. That is not the end of the world, and it makes sense that he would work smaller indie shows like house shows since they do not have all that wide of an audience. The structure is basic and the work feels “light” compared to his usual effort. Despite that, it’s still plenty fun to watch Claudio doing his thing.

Here, he got control early and worked Tracey over for a while. His heel act felt dumbed down compare to his heel work in other place, but that is to be expected. Tracey then made a professional comeback before they started going back and forth. Tracey eventually picked up the win with a fruit roll-up. This was undoubtedly solid and easy to watch. (***)
