The Big Show vs. Akebono from Wrestlemania 2005

Recap from TJ Hawke:

The first ninety seconds of the match was all stalling. It’s not included in the video. You can forgive us for posting the match anyway.

The match finally starts, and they proceed to do a worked sumo match. I just realized I have never heard Dave Musgrave’s take on this match. I need to ask him about it on Twitter at some point. They do a lot of pushing and shoving. They do a “nearfall.” After they briefly separate, Show calls for THE CHOKESLAM! If this sumo match ended in a chokeslam, it would have been five stars. I wouldn’t even have to think about it. Akebono promptly sent Show out of the circle and to the floor to pick up the victory.

As far as I am concerned, Wretslemania is the perfect time for one wacky deal like this that is worked very quickly. This was a perfectly enjoyable ninety seconds of pro wrestling.
