AJ Styles vs. Petey Williams from TNA’s Victory Road 2004

Recap from TJ Hawke:

This match was for Petey’s X-Division Championship.

AJ hit an early tope con HELLO. AJ was then cut off after a jawbreaker and interference from Scott D’Amore. Petey worked him over after that. AJ snapped off a spider German and then hit a Pele. AJ then made a comeback. They avoided each other’s finishers. In one of the worst referee decisions in history, the ref left a sure three count pinfall after two to yell at D’Amore from interfering. Belt shot from Petey: 1…2…NO! Petey avoided a superplex and then hit a diving Canadian Destroyer: 1…2…3

AJ attacked Petey after the match.

I thought this was okay. There really wasn’t anything to get excited about or anything of substance to it. There were some decent sequences/movez though.

Match Rating: **1/2
