Chris Jericho vs. Batista vs. Edge from WWE’s Summerslam 2004

Recap from TJ Hawke:

This was for Edge’s Intercontinental Title.  Batista was a part of the Evolution stable at this time. In fact, Orton, who was also in Evolution, won his world title in the main event of this show.

They immediately start with the “one man out, two men in” format. Blah. Despite taking place in Canada, the crowd didn’t really seem to like Edge. He was a babyface at this time, which makes that a little weird. Ok, he may have been turning. This was the entire first two thirds of the match. Batista saved Edge from the Walls, and Edge then got a nearfall with an Edgecution. Jericho saved Batista from a spear. Batista got a nearfall on Jericho with a spinebuster. Still doing “one man out, two men in.” Pure laziness. Jericho gave Batista a Silverking Dropkick, but he then ate a spear from Edge: 1…2…3

This was a massive letdown. They literally never stopped doing “one man out, two men in.” Mind blowing. The agent who organized this did not earn their paycheck on this day.

Match Rating: **1/4
