Chris Sabin vs. Doug Williams from ROH 2004

Recap from TJ Hawke:

This was a first-round match in the tournament to crown the first ROH Pure Championship.

Douglas got control by going after Sabin’s neck. Douglas couldn’t put him away and then foolishly went for a Togo senton. Sabin avoided it and then made a comeback. Douglas went for Chaos Theory once but couldn’t get it. A few minutes later he managed to pull it off: 1…2…3

This was suck a rock-solid match. Modern indie wrestlers should study this match to see how to pull off an effective midcard match that does not get much time.

Match Rating: ***
