Recap from TJ Hawke:

This is actually the first Hero/Punk match I’ve ever seen, which reveals how much of a dork I am. Hero is in his indie-riffic gear hear. His transformation over the years has been somewhat remarkable. They went back and forth for a while. Hero hit a backbreaker early on to gain control of the match.  Hero worked Punk over for a bit. Hero went for a moonsault, but Punk avoided it and hit the Welcome to Chicago, Motherfucker. Punk then got a nearfall with a neckbreaker. Hero hit a nasty release Tiger suplex: 1…2…NO! Punk came back with a sloppy middle rope blockbuster for a nearfall of his own. Punk then accidentally crotched himself before Hero tried to crotch him. That was awkward. Hero called for a super powerbomb, but Punk blocked it and hit a Pepsi Plunge: 1…2…3.

While I’m very, very glad to have finally seen a Punk/Hero match, I found this match to be quite underwhelming. They didn’t have a lot of time to work with, and they didn’t really make the most of the time given to them. I would only recommend this match to those who have never seen these two work together for the completists out there who feel compelled to watch every Punk/Hero match.

Match Rating: **1/2
