Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair from WWE’s Raw TV 2002

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Wow, I had no idea this was a real thing. Hogan vs. Flair. For the WWE Championship. In 2002. Oooof baboof.

It’s a No DQ match. Hogan came out on a motorcycle because he was in the middle of a feud with the Undertaker. I guess that means we’re getting a non-finish to this one. They were doing their formula. Flair bumped around a lot. Hogan did not bump at all. Flair cut him off with a low blow. Hogan came back and locked in the figure-four. Flair survived. Hogan Hulked Up. The crowd ate it politely. Hogan then hit the Big Boot and the Legdrop of Doom. X-Pac came out and broke up the pinfall. Hogan kicked his ass. The Big Show ran in, but Bradshaw ran him off. Flair went for the figure-four, but Steve Austin ran in and hit him with a Stunner. Hogan then got the legdrop of doom: 1…2…3

The action in this match was kind of sad within a bubble. When you add the context of it being for the WWE Championship in 2002 on Monday Night Raw, it’s even sadder. Mild recommendation (and that’s only because it’s two of the biggest stars ever having a world title match on national television match).

Match Rating: *1/2
