Steve Austin vs. The Undertaker from WWF 2001

Recap from TJ Hawke:

Austin’s WWF Championship was on the line.

Austin attacked Taker just as he got off his motorcycle. Austin kicked Taker’s ass and then hopped on the motorcycle. He couldn’t get it started though, and Taker lariated him off it. Biker Taker was terrible. They started brawling on the floor. Taker went to run him over with the bike, but Austin hopped into the crowd. They then started brawling in the crowd. They finally got into the ring, and the match was officially started.

Austin, tired of getting his ass kicked, tried to walk out on the match. Taker chased him down. Back in the ring, caught him with a stunner when the ref was distracted. Taker made a comeback. Ref bump. Austin used a chair on Taker. Taker came back with a chairshot to the head. Austin got busted open. Taker hit a chokeslam, but Kurt Angle ran down to give Taker the win via disqualification.

Austin and Angle attacked Taker after the match. Shane McMahon then ran in with some beers. The Alliance drank beer over Taker’s fallen body.

They tried very hard to have a good match. Unfortunately, it’s 2001 Taker taking on the leader of The Alliance version of Austin. It’s just impossible to care about it. Skip.

Match Rating: *3/4
