The Rock vs. The Undertaker from Survivor Series 1998

Recap from TJ Hawke:

This match was a semi-final match in the one-night tournament to crown a new WWF Champion. Paul Bearer was accompanying Taker to ringside.

They start the match by slugging it out. They quickly end up on the floor, with Taker in control.  They made their way back to the ring. Taker was in control for a while. Rock was eventually able to dump him to the floor.  Taker got back control of the match quickly enough, though. Bearer hit Rock with his shoe.  Rock eventually came back with a Samoan Drop. He is in fact half-Samoan. Bearer distracted the referee, but it backfired because it allowed the Rock to be able to knock Taker in the nuts. Rock hit a slow-motion Michinoku Driver. Bossman prevented the Rock from hitting the People’s Elbow. GOOZLE FROM TAKER! Kane ran in! GOOZLE ON ROCK FROM KANE! CHOKESLAM!. Taker was less than pleased, as this meant that Rock won by disqualification. Taker and Kane started battling it out.

This match was surprisingly lame, but I guess I can’t remember any Rock/Taker matches being special. Unless you’ve never seen these two square off, you can skip this one.

Match Rating: **1/4
