Bret Hart vs. Issac Yankem DDS from WWF’s Raw TV 1995

Recap from TJ Hawke:

I have never seen a single match from the Bret vs. Lawler feud. Bret was making numerous attempts to escape early on. The referee’s key would not work on the cage lock because Lawler had replaced it with a different lock. Good. I hate when cage matches end with competitive crawling out a door. There was a commercial break. When we came back, Bret applied the sharpshooter and Yankem tapped out (that obviously doesn’t count as a finish). Bret was free to climb out though, but Lawler left commentary to prevent Hart from escaping. Gorilla Monsoon scolded Lawler. Bret then punched Lawler to the floor, but that gave Yankem time to recover. Lawler was then locked in a ringside cage to prevent him from interfering…in a cage match. Lawler’s cage was then raised. Yankem and Hart continued to go at it. Lawler got a nose bleed from being so high up (lol). Hart and Yankem continued to have a boring brawl. Yankem seemingly finally had Hart down for good, and Lawler then tossed Yankem the key to the replacement lock. Hart took Yankem down with an O’Connor Roll and then punched him in the face. Bret then threw the key away and made a comeback on Yankem. Bret then won via climbing and dropping to the floor.

I thought this was actually some decent storytelling, but a lot of the match was really boring. Jerry Lawler was by far the highlight of the match, and he wasn’t even in the match!
